WestworldThe film is set sometime in the near future, in a high-tech amusement park called Delos. The park is divided into three zones: Westworld, Medievalworld & Romanworld. The entertainment in all three zones, consists mainly of interaction with androids, which are almost indestinguishable from humans.Peter Martin (Benjamin) and his friend John Blane (Brolin) visit the Westworld zone; a lawless society of guns and action, where guests can even duel android gunslingers. Everything seems fantastic, until the technicians running Delos, begin to notice glitches with the androids. At first these are minor, but the problems begin to rise in number and severity, until one of the guests is killed.
The film doesn't seem to be available to purchase in the UK anymore. As I've got a multi-region DVD player, I recently purchased the region 1 (U.S.) DVD. I don't know why the film has been deleted from UK stockists, and it's not known when or if it'll be released in a UK format. That's probably the reason so many region 1 bootlegs are available on eBay. If you've got Sky/Cable, then the film is (or was) getting fairly frequent airings on the Sci-Fi channel, so it's worth looking out for if you've never seen it. A remake of Westworld has been announced for release in 2009. However, there seems to be little in the way of confirmed details.
